Our trail rides are safe, relaxing and suitable for all ages and abilities. Whether you're visiting from overseas, holidaying locally, or just ticking horse riding off your bucket list, a gentle trail ride through our hinterland property is a safe, relaxed and unforgettable way to experience the beauty of the Gold Coast.
Enjoy the peaceful environment and the company of our gentle, well-trained horses on a meandering ride along the Coomera River, with a behind-the-scenes tour of our property as you ride along the creek's edge.
About the ride
- Total time: 1 hour.
- Lesson plus ride: the first 15 minutes are spent in our arena with a qualified coach, learning the basics of stopping, steering and controlling your horse.
- Trail experience: we then head out for a relaxed 45 minute ride around our beautiful property and along the river.
Experienced riders, please note: the group trail ride is inclusive of all abilities and is walking only, on flat terrain. Please book our advanced or private trail ride if you and your group have riding experience and would like to trot and canter.

Private trail ride
$170 one rider
Just you, or your chosen group. Competent riders can trot and canter.

Advanced private trail ride
$250 per person
An extended ride exploring more of the property and more advanced trails, for intermediate to advanced riders.

Please contact us if the number of riders shown online is not the number you want. For all of our trail rides, the horses are tacked and prepared for you.
What to expect
- A safe, supportive environment with highly qualified coaches.
- Horses and ponies selected for their calm, reliable nature.
- Scenic riding along our hinterland property and riverbank.
- When conditions are right, your guide may invite you and your horse to enjoy a splash in the Coomera River. Entry into the water is by approval of the guide only and is not guaranteed; rider confidence, ability, air and water temperature and the weather are all taken into account.
Phones and photos
For everyone's safety, phones are not permitted on trail rides. We need everyone's hands on the reins and total focus on the ride. We have a safe, locked place where you can store your valuables while you ride.
If you consent, our coaches may take photos during the ride, and you can download them afterwards. Our coaches are often busy with back-to-back lessons, so photos may not be uploaded straight away, but they will be by the end of the day.
Booking information
- Trail rides require a minimum of 2 people to go ahead.
- Participants must be at least 7 years old.
- Maximum rider weight: 90 kg.
- Pricing is per person.
- Weather: we run rides in most weather. If conditions are severe, we'll give you a 1 hour undercover riding lesson instead, so you still get a great riding experience.
- Only paid bookings are confirmed, and bookings are non-refundable.
On the trail
What to wear when you visit GCEC
Please wear long pants and boots every time you are onsite at GCEC. Even if you are not riding, please wear closed-in shoes. For your trail ride or trial lesson, if you don't have boots, sneakers or similar closed shoes will do, and helmets are provided by the school if you are riding.
Plan to arrive 15 minutes before your lesson or appointment, and 30 minutes before a group trail ride.
Please note that bookings are non-refundable and we do not offer rescheduling. There are no cancellations due to bad weather, as we have an undercover arena.
